Tendo em vista a importância da cultura, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi fazer uma análise dos custos envolvidos no processo de produção do tomateiro, avaliando a viabilidade econômica da cultura na região. Para isso foi realizada um estudo de caso em uma propriedade no distrito de Victor Hugo, município de Marechal Floriano, ES. O período avaliado foi de setembro de 2016 até janeiro de 2017. Foram plantadas três variedades de tomate do tipo de mesa. Para os cálculos de lucro final foram contabilizados os custos e receitas da área estudada. Também foi analisada a relação benefício custo (RB/C). A partir dos resultados verificou-se que a produtividade obtida foi de 3645 caixas com total de aproximadamente 69 toneladas, em um estande de 12000 plantas por hectare. O preço médio da caixa do período ficou em torno dos R$17,00. Foi observado o custo de R$ 50.268,24 e um lucro de R$ 13.180,76 no hectare. A RB/C foi de R$1,26. Assim, conclui-se que a cultura do tomate é viável para a agricultura da região de Marechal Floriano. The tomato is one of the main vegetables grown in Brazil, being of great importance in the economic scenario and of great participation in the feeding of the Brazilian. Considering the importance of culture, the objective of this work was to analyze the costs involved in the tomato production process, evaluating the economic viability of the crop in the region. For this, a case study was carried out on a property in the district of Victor Hugo, municipality of Marechal Floriano, ES. The period evaluated was from September 2016 to January 2017. Three varieties of tomato were planted. For the calculations of final profit were recorded the costs and revenues of the area studied. The cost benefit ratio (RB / C) was also analyzed. From the results it was verified that the productivity obtained was of 3645 boxes with total of approximately 69 tons, in a stand of 12000 plants per hectare. The average cash price for the period was around R $ 17.00. It was observed the cost of R $ 50,268.24 and a profit of R $ 13,180.76 in the hectare. The RB / C was R $ 1.26.
