| Descrição: | Among the 124 species of Coffea described (DAVIS et al., 201 1), Coffea arabica L. (arabica coffee) and Coffea canephora Pierre ex Froehner (robusta coffee) are the only ones with economic expression in the world market. In recent years, the production of robusta coffee has been increasing, comparatively, more than that of arabica. In 1985, around 25% of the world coffee production was derived from the robusta coffee, and by 2012-2013 this percentage increasedto about 40%. In Brazil, and particularly in Espirito Santo, the production of robusta coffee originates from the Kouillou variety, popularly known as Conilon. |
