Descrição: Piperaceae species are of great importance for the Brazilian flora, due to their medicinal potential. However, work with these species is still very scarce, especially considering the divergence in the germination process. Given the above, the objective of this work was to evaluate the germinative development of the seeds of Piper marginatum, Piper umbellatum, Piper hispidum, Piper aduncumand Piper mollicomum maintained under different temperature levels. The seeds were washed to remove mucilage, exposed on the benches for drying, and later, they were stored for 1 month in the refrigerator. Four repetitions of 50 seeds for each species were arranged in Gerbox boxes and submitted to different types of temperature levels (20º/30º, 25º, 30º and 35ºC) in the BOD chamber (Biological Oxygen Demand). Germination Percentage, Seedling Percentage and Germination Speed Index were evaluated. The temperature considered ideal for the species of P. aduncum and P. hispidum was 25°C, P. marginatum and P. mollicomum, alternating temperature between 20/30°C and P. umbellatum, temperatures of 20/30°C and 25°C.
