Coffee growing is a key point of Brazilian agribusiness and the state of Espirito Santo is the second largest national producer of coffees, characterizing itself as the largest conilon producer in the country. The coffee tree consortium provides a number of benefits to coffee growing. Correctly applied, the consortia allow the abiotic stresses on coffee to be mitigated in regions with a climate limiting its development. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the production of associated cultivation of conilon coffee and arabica coffee with rubber tree in relation to monoculture. The experiment was carried out at the Incaper Experimental Farm in the municipality of Marilândia, state of Espírito Santo without irrigation, in monoculture with a spacing of 3.0 x 1.0 meters, with 10 plants per parcel. The consortium used the rubber tree in the spacing of 8.0 x 2.5 meters with coffee in the spacing of 8.0 x 1.0 meters with 18 plants per parcel. The proposed statistical design was a randomized block design with four replications, in a factorial scheme of 11 genotypes and two environments (consortium and monoculture), in which was evaluated the production of clones 102, 105 and 108 of variety Diamante (ES 8112); 202 of the Jequitibá variety (ES 8122); 305, 307 and 308 of the Centenária variety (ES 8132); and clone 409 of the Marilandia variety (ES 8143). In addition to these were evaluated the performance of genotypes of the seminal propagation variety Robusta Tropical (Emcaper 8151) and two arabica coffee cultivars, Catuaí 81 and 86. The analysis of variance and means methods (Tukey at 5% significance) were performed in computer application GENES. The best genotypes under consortium were 202, 305, 409, 108 and 105 and the best in the monoculture were 105, 202, 308, 108 and 102. In both systems, the Catuaís were not efficient and possibly not indicated for the municipality of Marilandia. In search to maintain the coffee quality, the period of time for which the coffee is kept in the plantation after harvest (waiting transportation for the processing site) is one of the several factors that deserves scientific attention. This experiment aimed to identify and quantify losses of beverage quality suffered by Conilon coffee due to the time being kept in the field after harvesting, as an attempt to determine if the permanence of the bags in the plantation after harvest is possible before it causes detrimental
effects over characteristics of beverage quality. The experiment followed a completely random design, with 8 treatments and 4 repetitions, using standardized bags of mature fruits of Coffea canephora Pierre ex Froehner that were kept in the plantation field for periods of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 or 10 days after harvest. Samples from each bag were sent to chemical analyses, and triplicate samples of the processed coffee were sent to three separated sensorial analyses, each one performed by a different laboratory to asset
the quality score and traits of the beverage. The results showed that the beverage quality suffers considerable losses due to the time of bags being kept in the field after harvesting. For many quality parameters, the detrimental effects of the permanence at fields start from the very first day, causing reduction of the quality score of the beverage and lowering the classification of the coffee. |
