Coffee (Coffea arabica L) was introduced in the State of Espirito Santo in the beginning of XIX century, due to the expansion of the cultivated areas of the Paraiba Valley, Sao Paulo. Coffee monoculture was the predominant activity in Espirito Santo agriculture at the end of this century. It occupied the f?irst place in the economy and, from 1850, became the main vector of development and responsible for the formation of villages, towns and cities. Informações sobre a fisiologia das plantas, traduzem-se na expressão das condições morfofisiológicas da cultura, permitindo um diagnóstico das condições da lavoura. O delineamento experimental empregado foi de blocos casualizados, com cinco tratamentos: testemunha (T1), constituída pelo plantio de café Conilon em monocultivo. Os demais tratamentos foram com o café conilon sombreado com pupunheiras espaçadas de 6,0 m x 2,0 m (T2); 6,0 m x 1,0 m (T3); 3,0 m x 2,0 m (T4) e 3,0 m x 1,0 m (T5). O café foi cultivado em um único espaçamento, de 3,0 m entre linhas e 1,5 m entre plantas, em todos os tratamentos. Cada parcela está constituída de 36 plantas de café. Para as avaliações, a parcela útil foi composta por 8 plantas de café localizadas no centro de cada parcela. Das características avaliadas conclui-se que o sombreamento influenciou significativamente o número de frutos por planta, o volume total de frutos
por planta, o peso da matéria fresca de café colhido, o peso da matéria seca de café colhido, o percentual de bóia e a produtividade. Todos os tratamentos apresentaram rendimento na pilagem abaixo de 65%. O tratamento T2 apresentou maior rendimento em sc de café beneficiadas ha-1. |
