Germination ecophysiology of germination of Theobroma cacao L. genotypes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the interaction of the genotypes with common temperatures (common, TSH-1188, ESFIP-02, CCN-51, Ipiranga-01, SJ-02, PH-16, PS-1319, CEPEC-2002 and Catongo) (15 °C, 20 °C, 25 °C, 30 °C, 35 °C, 40 °C, 15-25 °C and 20-30 °C) and drying periods (0, 2 and 4 days) on germination and post-germination cacao tree. The genotype / temperature interaction study was a 10 x 8 factorial, while the desiccation tolerance was a 10 x 3 factorial. Variance analysis was performed and the means were compared using the Scott-Knott grouping test (p <0.05). For the temperature influence test, the means obtained were submitted to the regression test. The temperature response was influenced differently by the genotype. The TSH-1188 genotype was
the only one to present quite distinct behavior, with germinability and vigor above the temperatures tested. As for seed desiccation, the evaluated genotypes had a significant reduction of vigor.
In order to understand the technological, environmental, and socioeconomic impacts of viticulture in a hot climate region in the state of Espirito Santo, this study evaluated the energy flows of family-based viticulture in the municipality of Guarapari, a coastal region of the aforementioned state. The study analyzed the production of eleven family properties and evaluated the energy input (MJ) of the components involved in one hectare of farming. Direct and indirect energies contributed 60.9% (18,767.24 MJ) and 39.1% (12,027.1 MJ)
of the inputs, respectively. Renewable energy contributed 24.2% (7,453.01 MJ), and non-renewable energy contributed 75.8% (23,341.24 MJ) of the inputs. Mature grapes were considered as energy output, totaling 181,953.05 MJ. Energy Efficiency (EE), Energy Conversion (EC), Specific Energy (SE), and Available Net Energy (ANE) were calculated as 5.91; 0.50 kg MJ-1; 2.00 MJ kg-1; and 151,158.81 MJ, respectively. Despite the significant use of non-renewable resources, the viticulture systems in the hot region studied, appeared to
be sustainable.
