Daily, developed larvae and pupae of the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) were supplied for oviposition of the parasitoids. Similarly, young larvae and eggs were supplied as food. The immature stages period decreased by the increase of the temperature, in this way, larval eclosion occurred in 6.7 to 2.2 days and larval period ranged from 10.4 to 4.4 days at 17 and 29o C, respectively. A variation of 38.4 (17oC) to 11.8 (29oC) days was observed for pupal phase. The egg-adult period for P. nasuta ranged from 55.2 (17o C) to 18.0 (29o C). The highest viability was found in immature stages at 25oC (80.3%) and 29o C (76.6%). Female longevity is increased by the lower temperatures, with a mean duration of 91.3 days at 17o C.The pre-oviposition period ranged from 31.1 to 11.8 days, at 17 and 29o C, respectively. Females laid a mean of 13.6 and 18.8 eggs, respectively, at 21 and 25o C. It can be concluded that the favorable range for the development of the insect is situated around 21oC and 25o C. Brazil is one of the main producers of watermelon crops (Citrullus lanatus), which present great water requirement and offer in their irrigated cultivation, when well managed, the possibility of productive gains and fruit quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the productivity and the vegetative development of the plant and the watermelon fruits of the ?Top Gun? cultivar submitted to different irrigation depths in the Northwestern region of Espírito Santo. The experiment was carried out in the horticulture sector of the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo-Campus Itapina, from September 30, 2017 to December 15, 2017. A completely randomized design was used consisting of six treatments corresponding to 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150% and 175% of the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) calculated daily, with four repetitions of each treatment. The length of the branches of all the selected plants and the longitudinal and transverse lengths of their fruits were evaluated weekly. In the last analysis, the fruit weight was also collected and the productivity was estimated. Development and differentiated production responses were verified with the different depths applied. Water replacements corresponding to the 125% ETo leaf gave the best vegetative and productive development of the watermelon ?Top Gun? cultivar, cultivated in the northwestern region of Espírito Santo. |
